Dr. Alvin Berger brings a rare combination of landmark scientific research and more than 30 years of commercial experience in nutrition, biochemistry, lipids, food, supplements, diagnostics, and health innovation. Food for Health® relies upon that expertise to evaluate evidence rigorously and translate complex science into responsible product logic and practical value.

About Alvin

Alvin is widely experienced in lipid science, including marine, animal, and plant fatty acids, phospholipids, sphingolipids, gangliosides, and plant sterols. His research has addressed health areas ranging from cardiovascular and metabolic health to cognition, inflammation, skin, bone, diabetes, and immunity, with work published in leading scientific journals and represented in patents, reviews, and scientific papers.

His career also spans the commercial side of science. Alvin has led nutrition, lipid, analytical, intellectual-property, metabolomics, and biochemistry initiatives for multinational companies and startups; developed research programs across laboratory, animal, and clinical settings; and supported product development and commercialization in food, supplement, drug, and diagnostic markets. He is an adjunct professor of nutrition at the University of Minnesota and co-founder of LifeSense Products.

What distinguishes Alvin’s contribution is his ability to communicate across scientific and commercial worlds. He can interrogate evidence at a technical level, identify gaps and risks, and then explain what the science means to product teams, business leaders, partners, and consumers.
