Experience in service of better health

Katie Hjelmstad Severt brings experience spanning women’s health advocacy, communications, technology, strategy, and nonprofit governance. Food for Health® draws upon her ability to connect lived experience with leaders, research, investment, and public conversation—helping ensure personalization reflects the people it is intended to serve.

About Katie

Katie founded Let’s Talk Health to help close the women’s health gap by elevating the voices of researchers, clinicians, innovators, investors, policymakers, and advocates. Its Let’s Talk Women platform and event series convene cross-sector leaders around health issues that have too often been overlooked, underfunded, or poorly understood.

Her commitment to health and community also includes six years on the Hennepin Healthcare Foundation board and more than six years chairing the advisory board of the University of Minnesota’s Adoption Medicine Clinic. Across those roles, Katie has helped connect community generosity, institutional leadership, specialized care, research, and advocacy.

Katie holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She brings to Food for Health® the curiosity of a problem solver and the practical instinct of a connector: listen carefully, identify the missing relationships, and bring the right people together at the right time.
